Were you born with two left feet? Or perhaps even three? Ok, sorry, you probably weren't born with three feet.
If you want to learn to dance salsa, you have a few options. You could find a local dance studio and pay to take lessons each week, you could go to a salsa dance club and learn by watching and failing, or you could track down a video to learn from.
Going to a dance studio to learn to dance salsa is definately one way to go, but it can be expensive and you might not get top quality instruction. You see, since the show Dancing With The Stars became such an overwhelming hit, every city has seen dance studios pop up teaching ballroom dancing styles such as the salsa, the rhumba, the waltz, and the tango.
The problem with going to a local dance studio is that they aren't always the most reliable source of quality instruction. Sure, if you want your 8 year old girl to learn ballet, that's fine. Local schools are great for that, but many towns don't have a real reliable source of quality ballroom dance instruction because up until recently, there was almost no demand whatsoever for ballroom dance classes.
Another way to learn is to go to a salsa/latin dance club and learn by watching and trying. Of course, you might look ridiculous at first, but it sure can be a lot of fun. The tricky part is that most cities, especially in the Midwest don't have any such dance clubs like you might find in New York or Los Angeles.
Then there is the third option, which frankly is the best option for most people. You can learn from a highly trained professional via a video dvd course. That is a great way to learn in the privacy of your own home, without the fear of making mistakes in front of other people.
